**Update: Mother’s Day Surprise - Let’s build a new house**\

Seven weeks ago we surprised a young single mother with five children whose house was severely damaged by heavy rains, that Million Footprints will build her a new home.
Over a stretch of six weeks, Silvia our MFP Ambassador on the ground in Kenya put in countless hours to manage and organize this task.
Silvia and the family selected a new spot, cleared the area, prepared the ground, got the posts in place, bound the structure that would be filled with stones and clay for the wall, built the roof structure, covered with a new roof. Then coral stones were hammered into the ground as a foundation for the cement floor inside the house. Then came the door and the window. Last Sunday they had a simple meal with family, friends and the workers to celebrate this moment. When we learned they only had one bed for the two youngest children, the rest were sleeping on the ground we decided to get them all the furniture they need to feel safe and at home. Yesterday Silvia delivered kitchen tools. This allows the mother to bake Mandazi (the Kenyan version of donuts) and she already sold her first batch. She was smiling all day. It fills our hearts that she now - no matter how simple - has a way to earn some money for her family.
