Sixty Desks for Education
On Thursday, November 25, 2021, we decided to help the Kwa Upanga Primary School in Mere / near Malindi (Kenya) to furnish both 1st grade classes with 60 new desks. About 100 of the 120 young students follow the classes while sitting on the floor. 84% of the students did not have a desk.
In the first three days, we already secured the funding for the first 15 desks at US$ 30 each. Indeed, we were hopeful to fund the next 15 within another week. Our goal at that time was to reach the 60 before New Year, so the children could start the new term with big smiles on their young faces.
Within days, a local carpenter – in walking distance from the school - started with the first desks.
On December 6, 2021, the 1st graders at the Kwa Upanga Primary School were gifted the first 15 desks.
On December 21, 2021, we were delighted to announce that Million Footprints received a generous donation from our MFP legal counsel, Lillian, her colleagues Lielle, and Adriana. That donation paid for the remaining 33 school desks for our 1st Graders at the KWA UPANGA PRIMARY SCHOOL.
We were able to announce the great news just a day after the children received the second delivery of 12 desks, which brought the total to 27.
By January 14, 2022, we completed the “Desks for Education Project”
Million Footprints furnished both the 1st grade classes with 60 new desks.
Now, none of the 120 young students needs to follow the classes while sitting on the floor.
